Through the Wilderness: A Free Lenten Prayer Companion
46 Days of Prayers from Ash Wednesday to Holy Saturday
Whether you formally observe Lent or simply want to prepare your heart for Easter, this guide is for you.
Why We Created This Resource
Lent mirrors the biblical pattern of wilderness—forty-six days of stripping back, waiting, and preparing for deliverance.
As we read Genesis 47-50, Job, and Exodus 1-13 together during these weeks, we’re walking through Scripture’s oldest wilderness narratives: famine in Egypt, Job’s ash heap, Israel’s slavery. These aren’t random passages. They’re stories of people waiting in darkness for God to move, wondering if deliverance will ever come.
These prayers help you sit with that tension. They don’t rush past the difficulty to get to Easter morning. Before the Red Sea parts, there’s Egypt. Before Job is restored, there’s the ash heap. Before resurrection, there’s crucifixion.
Lent asks us to walk slowly through the wilderness with Christ. These prayers give you language for that journey—especially when you’re living your own wilderness right now. If we’re going to prepare our hearts to worship Christ joyfully at His resurrection, we need to walk honestly through the wilderness first.
This prayer companion helps you do that.
For Our Daily Bible Study Readers
If you’re following along with The Bible for the Broken, this prayer companion is designed specifically for you. It’s a natural add-on to your daily studies from February 18 through April 4—and it only takes a minute or two.
It’s optional—but it helps orient your heart toward Easter alongside the daily readings, without adding much time to what you’re already doing.
Easy to Share
Know someone walking through a difficult season? Lent starts February 18.
This short prayer guide gives them words when they have none—honest prayers that acknowledge the darkness without pretending everything is fine. It connects their suffering to Christ’s journey toward the cross, reminding them their pain has meaning, their wilderness won’t last forever, and Easter is coming.
It’s 46 days with a clear ending. Manageable when everything else feels overwhelming. No long commitment, no pressure to have it all together. Just a gentle path through the next six weeks for someone who wants to keep breathing spiritually but doesn’t know how.
